Feeling safe in your neighborhood is an important part of community health and well-being. Public safety can affect whether people feel comfortable walking outside, using parks and public spaces, attending community events, accessing services, and connecting with their neighbors. Violence and exposure to violence can also have lasting effects on physical health, mental health, stress, and quality of life.
